MingmingNepjune Make Their Debut Pairing in Juliet & Juliet, Drawing Attention After Premiere Million-Copy Japanese GL Hit How Do We Relationship? Follows

Thailand has a new GL pairing to watch. Global LGBTQ+, BL and GL streaming platform GagaOOLala is now streaming the new Thai GL series Juliet & Juliet, starring rising actresses Mingming Kanyakorn and Nepjune Nutkitta in their first on-screen pairing.

The series takes the familiar idea of lovers from feuding families and gives it a GL twist, following two young heiresses from rival crime families who unexpectedly fall for each other. Since the series premiered, MingmingNepjune’s chemistry and the push-and-pull relationship between their characters have quickly become a talking point among Thai GL fans.

MingmingNepjune were first introduced as a pairing when one31 announced its 2026 lineup. Mingming also joined OPEN LABEL this year, with Juliet & Juliet marking a new stage in her acting career as a leading actress. With a fresh pairing, a long-running family feud and a youthful first love at its center, the series was already one of the more closely watched Thai GL projects before it even aired.

Thailand Keeps Welcoming New GL Pairings

The arrival of MingmingNepjune comes at a time when Thailand’s GL market is expanding quickly.

According to research published on TAICCA’s industry platform, Thailand had only one GL series in 2022. By 2026, more than 40 GL film and television projects are expected to air. The range of stories has also widened, moving beyond school and workplace romance into suspense, crime, time travel and forensic drama.

The idea of a “CP,” or an on-screen pairing, has also grown far beyond a short-term promotional strategy tied to a series.

Thai media outlet The MATTER reported that from 2014 through the end of June 2026, commercially promoted BL and GL actor pairings in Thailand had collectively held 618 concerts, fan meetings, fansign events and fan concerts. Of these, 104 took place in the first half of 2026 alone. These events are no longer limited to Asia, with stops now reaching the United States, Brazil and Europe.

The MATTER also noted that as more GL productions found success, events centered around GL pairings increased noticeably between 2024 and 2025.

Tokyo and Blue: Two Daughters of Rival Families Caught Between Love and Hate

Juliet & Juliet begins at a conservative girls’ school, where Tokyo and Blue experience the innocence of first love. Before long, they discover that they are the youngest daughters of two rival crime families.

Their families have been fighting for generations over local power and economic interests. The older generation expects Tokyo and Blue to carry on that hatred. Instead, the two fall in love.

As the feud grows more violent, their relationship becomes harder to protect. Tokyo and Blue are forced to choose between family, love and the expectations placed on them from birth.

What happens when the first person you truly love is also the one person everyone tells you that you should never be with? Can they find a way to write a different ending for themselves?

The series comes from the production team behind Girl From Nowhere and brings a classic Romeo and Juliet style of forbidden romance into the GL space.

Mingming was previously a member of girl group MINDY and also competed on CHUANG ASIA 2024. Her first pairing with Nepjune now marks her official entry into GL drama as a leading actress.

Landmark Japanese GL Manga Gets a Live-Action Adaptation, Starring Riho Sayashi and Sakurako Konishi

Japan is also bringing one of its best-known GL manga titles to live action.

After eight years of serialization, How Do We Relationship? stars Riho Sayashi and Sakurako Konishi in the two lead roles and begins streaming on GagaOOLala on September 11.

The original manga has recorded more than 100 million reads in Japan and surpassed one million copies in global circulation. It has also been published in international editions across markets including the United States, Thailand, Germany, South Korea and Taiwan.

Both actresses come to the series with strong individual profiles.

Riho Sayashi, who plays Saeko Sawatari, first rose to prominence as one of the core members of Japanese idol group Morning Musume. In recent years, she has continued working across television, film and musical theatre.

Sakurako Konishi, who plays Miwa Inuzuka, was selected from around 3,000 candidates for the female lead in the film First Love. The film later took her to the Cannes Film Festival.

The story begins with a very simple question. Two university students both like women, neither is particularly good at relationships, and they happen to meet. So why not try dating?

Miwa has always wanted to fall in love, but romance has never gone especially well for her. After entering university, she meets the cheerful and outgoing Saeko through the light music club. When they discover that they are both attracted to women, they decide to give dating a try.

The story becomes more interesting after they actually get together.

Once the early sweetness fades, jealousy, insecurity, desire, differences in values and old emotional wounds begin to surface. Being girlfriends does not solve everything. In many ways, it is only the beginning of learning how to understand each other.

MBS has also described the live-action adaptation as a story about two people who are not very good at love, with the real relationship drama beginning after they officially become a couple.

Thailand and Japan are approaching GL in very different ways. Thailand continues to build strong new pairings and fan communities, while Japan is bringing established manga IP into live-action drama. Together, they show how quickly the Asian GL market is growing and how many different types of stories are now reaching audiences.
